Since 2018, Shortbox Comics has been helping comic collectors across Europe build, expand and better understand their collections.
Every month our team handles thousands of comic books, from the latest weekly releases and retailer exclusives to key issues, signed comics, CGC-graded books, omnibus editions and hard-to-find back issues. That daily experience gives us practical knowledge that simply can't be learned from reading about comics alone.
We're also proud to be an official Heroes Dutch Comic Con Partner since June 2026. As organizers of the Shortbox Comics Artist Hub, we work closely with comic creators, publishers and collectors while supporting signings, artist appearances and educational activities during one of Europe's largest comic conventions.

The Shortbox Comics Knowledge Base is maintained by Marcel Brilman, founder of Shortbox Comics, together with Sam and the entire Shortbox Comics team.
If you've ever visited one of our livestream sales, stopped by our booth at a comic convention or joined one of our community events, you've probably already met some familiar faces.
Hendrie, Roy, Frank and Peter are part of the Shortbox Comics sidekick crew. Each brings their own collecting experience, comic knowledge and enthusiasm to the community. Whether helping visitors during Heroes Dutch Comic Con, answering questions during livestream sales or sharing collecting tips, they're an important part of what makes Shortbox Comics more than just a comic book store.

Why We Created the Shortbox Comics Knowledge Base
The comic book hobby is full of information, but not all of it is accurate, current or easy to understand. Collectors regularly ask us about grading, variants, key issues, retailer exclusives, pre-orders, first printings and comic preservation.
Instead of answering those questions one by one, we decided to build a comprehensive library that everyone can access.
Our mission isn't to create hype or tell people what to buy. Our goal is to explain comic collecting in a factual, practical and approachable way, helping both new and experienced collectors make informed decisions.
How We Research Our Articles
Every guide published in the Shortbox Comics Knowledge Base combines our daily experience with carefully researched information.
When appropriate, we verify facts using official publisher announcements, creator information, distributor updates, grading standards, historical references and trusted industry resources. Whenever the comic industry changes, we review and update our articles to keep them accurate and relevant.
